The post where i give in and talk about baseball for a second.

mikeypizzle:

To all you people who like to bad mouth the Yankees because they buy players and what not. Shut it. There have been years when they didn’t win (or even go to) the World Series with the exact same team they have now. You think they did that by choice. Like they had a team meeting and said “Hey guys you know what…Fuck it this year lets let some other team win for once.” No they go out like every other team and play and win. The thing the truly separates the Yankees from other teams is that they can close…When the heat is on and shit needs to happen they make it happen. And honestly that’s all that matters in any professional team sport.

You don’t actually follow baseball do you?

Did the Yankees miss the playoffs last year with Big Game Beavis, C.C. Sabathia, and Texiera? No. They went out and spent $400 million on just those three players. And when those fuckers finally spent $200+ million on payroll and did win the “they don’t win a title” argument doesn’t really count (especially after a record-setting off-season spending spree.)

They’re not everything that’s wrong with baseball, but they’re a huge chunk of it. I once called them the Ed Hardy of sports teams, but let’s be honest: they’re the Goldman Sachs of sports teams. Rip-off taxpayers? Check. Spend obscene amounts of money? Check. Avoid a level playing field with their competitors at all costs? Check.
