Georgia Theatre Memories: Good & Bad

sarahchristine:

[taking a packing break.]

  • Bad(-ish):Where was I the night I got my first DUI? That’s right! The Theatre for some show. I do not recall which show it was. By the time I got there and started doing shots, I was already black out.
  • Good: My friend Sumner’s rehearsal dinner party was held there (party after the dinner).
  • Bad: first and only time I did coke was in the mens’ restroom at the Theatre, the night of a Zoso show.
  • Good: SO many shows. Country shows, cover band shows, random shows. Trying to remember them all… My mind is blanking on most. But I lived in Athens for 6 years: there were lots.
  • Good: random datenights, crush parties, and socials. I was not in a sorority.
  • Good: hanging out with gorgeous friends. Meeting boys. Lots of boys.

There’s so many more… My mind and my memory of my first few years in Athens is not the best. (Not bragging) I consumed HUGE amounts of liquor at the Theatre and other such venues and my memories of those years is lacking. I saw some awesome shows there, but really cannot remember who.

A few off-the-top highlights:

  • Booking and playing a pretty packed show there. The $500 was nice too.
  • Some great times at multiple cover bands—Mel & the Party Hats, 17th Floor, Appetite for Destruction, and Zoso.
  • Gran Torino’s insane funkiness.
  • Two sets of Mr. Bungle craziness, including Patton throwing in some J-Lo over “My Ass Is On Fire.”
  • A four-hour Victor Wooten Band show.
